Listed chronologically below is a summary of the
activities related to the discharge of groundwater at the site.
4/16/91 Received the discharge permit from Frank Tucker at the City of Stockton (City),
allowing discharge into the sanitary sewer.
Calibrated the LEL meters and started pumping and discharging groundwater into the
sanitary sewer. Within a few days of turning on the pumping system, the LEL meter
in the well casing started shutting down the pump every few hours, due to high
(greater than 10 percent) LEL readings.
4/18/91 Collected effluent water sample for laboratory analysis of total'petroleum hydrocarbons
(TPH) and benzene, ethylbenzene, toluene, and xylenes (BETX). Table I presents a
summary of laboratory results of detected constituents for the extraction system. The
complete laboratory reports are included with this letter.
Received notice from San Joaquin County that the pumping well must be sealed at the
surface.
4125/91 Extraction system was turned off. The pump was not restarting properly because the
pump was plugged. The pump was withdrawn from the well, cleaned, and then placed
back in the well.
Called the City with preliminary laboratory results of TPH and BETX analysis. The
i City requested that the pump be turned on long enough to collect x sample for total
" toxic organics(TTO), but to leave the pump off otherwise.
