ATTACHMENT A REMEDIAL SYSTEM PERFORMANCE EVALUATION r Soil vapor extraction (SVE) and air sparging (AS) were initiated on January 1, 1995 and May 5, 1995, respectively A groundwater extraction(GWE) system was in operation onsite between 1991 and 1996 A brief description and performance evaluation of the remedial system between January 7,2002 and March 5,2002 is presented below Field data is presented in Attachment A-A SVE System The SVE system is comprised of 14 SVE wells (V-I through V-13, and E-6) and an Airex Katox 100 catalytic oxidizer The SVE system is permitted by the San Joaquin County Unified Air Pollution Control District (SJCUAPCD)Permit to Operate#N-3601-1-0,which expires on January 1,2002 The SVE system was restarted on March 15,2000, after being off due to high groundwater elevations rendering operation not feasible The system was shut off in October 2000 due to low influent concentrations and remained off through January 16, 2001 The system was again restarted and operated through March 1, 2001 The SVE system was approximately 40% operational between January 16, 2001 and March 1, 2001, at which time the system was shut off due to low influent concentrations SVE system influent data is presented in Tables A-1 and A-2, and a plot of SVE system influent soil vapor TPHg, benzene, and MtBE concentrations versus time is shown as Figure A-2 A plot of cumulative mass removal data is presented in Figure A-1 SVE system performance data is included in Table A-1 SVE emission data is presented in Table A-3, and SVE operational data,including well open/closed status,flow rate,and applied vacuum data,are presented in Table A-4 Air Sparging System The AS system is comprised of 9 AS wells (S-1 through S-9) and a MD Pneumatics Model 3202 7 5-hp blower During the first quarter 2002, the AS system was fully operational AS system operational data, including well opentclosed status, flow rate, and applied pressure data, are presented in Table A-5 Monitoring well dissolved oxygen (DO) data is included with groundwater elevation and analytical data in Table I and Table A-6 Treatment system field data sheets are included as Attachment A-A
