ATTACHMENT A REMEDIAL SYSTEM PERFORMANCE EVALUATION Soil vapor extraction (SVE) and air sparging were initiated on January 1, 1995 and May 5, 1995, respectively A groundwater extraction system operated at the site between 1991 and 1996 A brief description and performance evaluation of the remedial system between March 1, 2001 and May 15,2001 is presented below Field data, certified laboratory analytical reports, and chain-of-custody documentation are presented in Attachment A-A SVE System The SVE system is comprised of 14 SVE wells (V-1 through V-13, and E-6) and an Airex Katox 100 catalytic oxidizer The SVE system is permitted by the San Joaquin County Unified Air Pollution Control District . (SJVUAPCD)Permit to Operate Number N-3601-1-0,which expires on January 1,2002 The SVE system was re-started on March 15, 2000 after being off due to high groundwater elevations making operation of the SVE system not feasible The system was shut-off in October of 2000 due to low influent concentrations and remained off through January 16, 2001 The system was again re-started and operated through March 1,2001 The SVE system was approximately 40%operational between January 16 and March 1, 2001, at which time the system was shut off due to low influent concentrations SVE system influent data is presented in Tables A-1 and A-2, and a plot of SVE system influent soil vapor TPHg, benzene, and MtBE concentrations versus time is shown as Figure A-2 A plot of cumulative mass removal data is presented in Figure A-1 SVE system performance data is included in Table A-1 SVE emission data is presented in Table A-3, and SVE operational data, including well open/closed status, flow rate, and applied vacuum data, are presented in Table A-4 Air Sparging System The air sparging system is comprised of 9 air sparging wells (S-1 through S-9) and a MD Pneumatics Model 3202 7 5-hp blower During the second quarter, the air sparging system was fully operational Air sparging system operational data, including well open/closed status,flow rate,and applied pressure data,are presented in Table A-5 Monitoring well dissolved oxygen data is included with groundwater elevation and analytical data in Table 1 and Table A-6 Treatment system field data sheets are included as Attachment A-A
