ATTACHMENT A
REMEDIAL SYSTEM PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
Soil vapor extraction (SVE) and air spargmg were initiated on January 1, 1995 and May 5, 1995,
respectively A brief description and performance evaluation of the remedial system between
December 11, 1998 and February 3, 1999 is presented below
SVE System
The SVE system is comprised of 14 SVE wells (V-1 through V-13, and E-6) and a Airex Katox
100 catalytic oxidizer The SVE system is permitted by the San Joaquin County Unified Air
Pollution Control District (SJVUAPCD) Permit to Operate Number N-3601-1-0, for operation
through January 1, 2000
The SVE system was not operated this quarter due to high groundwater elevations making
operation of the SVE system not feasible
Air Sparging System
The air sparge system is comprised of 9 air sparge wells (S-1 through S-9) and a MD Pneumatics
Model 3202 7 5-horsepower blower
Previously, the air sparging system was repaired and re-started on June 15, 1998 During the
quarter, the air sparging system was fully operational However, the system was manually turned
off in February 99 for the UST removal and replacement activities Air spargmg system
operational data, including well open/closed status, flow rate, and applied pressure data are
presented in Table A-1 Monitoring well dissolved oxygen data is shown on Table A-2 Treatment
system field data sheets are included as Attachment A-A
Conclusion
SECOR will continue to operate the air sparge system The SVE system will remain off until
groundwater elevations decline to a point where SVE is feasible
Attachments Table A-1 - Air Sparge ng System Performance Data
Table A-2 - Morutonng Well Dissolved Oxygen Data
Attachment A-A Treatment System Field Data Sheets
