s <br /> B R O W N A N D <br /> C A L D W E L L <br /> September 13, 1994 <br /> Mr Chuck Carmel <br /> ARCO Products Company <br /> 2000 Alameda de las Pulgas <br /> Post Office Box 5811 <br /> San Mateo, California 94403 017-1506-0111 <br /> Subject Soil Vapor Extraction and Air Sparge Well Installation at ARCO Station 2133, <br /> Located at 2908 West Benjamin Holt Drive, Stockton, California, Site Code 1020 <br /> Dear Mr Carmel <br /> ARCO Products Company (ARCO) authorized Brown and Caldwell (BC) to conduct the <br /> drilling and installation of two dual completion soil vapor extraction (SVE)/air sparge (AS) <br /> wells, three single completion SVE wells, and one single completion AS well at ARCO <br /> Station 2133 located at 2908 West Benjamin Holt Drive, Stockton, California The work was <br /> authorized by Task Order 2133-94-4A A work plan (dated July 18, 1994) and well permit <br /> application was submitted to and approved by the San Joaquin County Public Health Services, <br /> Environmental Health Division A copy of the work plan and approved permit are included <br /> with this report as Appendix A <br /> BC personnel supervised the installation of the wells which was conducted during the week <br /> of August 15, 1994 Turner Explorations of Rancho Cordova, California performed the <br /> drilling The well installation was conducted in accordance with the July 18, 1994 work plan <br /> The locations of the wells are presented on Figure 1 All of the SNE and AS wells will be <br /> connected to the remediation system which is currently under construction <br /> Table 1 presents a summary of the soil sample analytical results A complete laboratory <br /> report is included with this report as Appendix B As requested by the County, additional soil <br /> samples (from the number indicated in the work plan) were collected The additional samples <br /> were collected from depths of approximately 16 and 21 feet from boreholes V-8 and V-11, <br /> and approximately 21 feet from boreholes V-12 and S-9 The analytical results of the soil <br /> sampling indicate that benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX) constituents were <br /> identified in some of the soil samples in minor concentrations Groundwater was encountered <br /> at a depth of 17-18 feet below groundsurface during drilling Of the samples collected from <br /> below the groundwater table (approximately 2-3 feet below the groundwater table), BTEX <br /> constituents were identified slightly above laboratory detection limits only in the sample <br /> collected from borehole V-12 Total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) were identified above <br /> 0W13/W\EU 5061C0RRESP51506.01 L 2 Enviranrnenlal Engineering And Consulting Analytical Seances <br /> QhtS•P5310 <br /> 9616 1\1ICRO` AtiF,UE P o BOX13449 S %CR %\1ENTo CA 9)813 3449 <br /> (916) 444 0123 FAX (916) 8)6 3277 <br />
