Status of Groundwater Extraction System. ARCO Station 2133,
Stockton, California
Dear Mr Carmel
This letter presents the current status of the groundwater extraction system and the results of
the groundwater discharge sampling at ARCO Products Company (ARCO) Station 2133,
located at 2908 Benjamin Holt Drive in Stockton, California. Listed chronologically is a
summary of the activities related to the discharge of groundwater at the site from May 16
through June 15, 1992. Table 1 presents a summary of the detected constituents for the
extraction system to date (The complete laboratory reports for this reporting period are
included in Attachment A)
6/1/92 Collected effluent water sample for laboratory analysis of total petroleum hydrocarbons
(TPH), and benzene, ethylbenzene, toluene and xylenes (BEI'X).
6/10/92 Collected effluent water sample for laboratory analysis of TPH,BEI'X, and metals.
The system was operated intermittently during the later part of this time period. The probable
cause is a maladjusted or faulty float switch at the point of discharge to the sanitary sewer
The float switch has been repaired and the system is now operating normally.
The average flow rate during this period (31 days) was approxunately <1 gallon per minute
(gpm) The average daily flow was 1,128 gallons The total volume of water discharged
during the period was 57,000 gallons
Table 2 presents the average pounds per day of each constituent discharged to the sanitary
sewer. The constituent quantities were calculated using the formula below The quantity of
hydrocarbons being discharged is in compliance with the City of Stockton Wastewater
Discharge Permit issued for this site
-0a I.2
