4. Laboratory Analysis Page 9
Analyses to be performed are based on Table#2 of the Tri-Regional Board Staff
Recommendations for Preliminary Evaluation and Investigation of Underground Tank Sites
(August 10, 1990), Using Pace Laboratories, Novato, California, a state certified
laboratory, selected soil samples from excavation walls and floor, and stock piles will be
selected for analysis for total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline(TPH-g) by GCFID
(5030)and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX) by EPA Method 8020. If
the analysis of the soil samples collected beneath the waste oil tank during tank removal
activities indicate leakage, soil samples collected in the excavation near the waste oil tank will
be analyzed for Total Oil and Grease (TOG) by Standard Method 5520 D and F,chlorinated
hydrocarbons by EPA Method 8010, and for the following metals:cadmium, chromium,
lead, zinc and nickel by atomic absorption.
