A summary of this activity is given in the Groundwater Sampling Field
till Notes given in Appendix D.
a +. Groundwater samples were collected with a Teflon bailer equipped with a ball-check
valve, and sample containers were fi!!t`d directly from the bailer as scan after purging as
possible. The samples were placed immediately on ice in a Cooler and later transported
to the laboratory under standard chain-of-custody procedures. Chain-of-custody forms
used in this process are contained in Appendix C. Samples were analyzed for TPH by
EPA Method 418.1 and BTEK by EPA Method 602.
All bailers used for purging and/or sampling were decontaminated before and after
sampling each well. The equipment was rinsed with deionixed water, cleaned with an
Alconox (brand-name) solution, and then rinsed three times with deionized water. The
nylon-hoisting line on the bailer was similarly rinsed prior to sampling the next well.
Also, sounders used for measuring water levels were similarly decontaminated.
Sampling personnel wore outer gloves while purging, and disposable inner gloves while
filling sample containers to prevent cross-contamination.
FREE-PRODUCT MONITORING
Thickness of possible free product was monitored by .j,sing an electronic interface
probe with a + or - 0.01 foot detection limit.
