SB-02. In boring SB-03, water was encountered in a brownish-gray clayey sand of low
plasticity. As
previously mentioned, measured water levels are presented in Table 1.
Figure 6 is a groundwater elevation map based on measured water levels of 25 March
1991. The Ievels were converted to elevations usingtop-of-casing A casing survey information.
All groundwater elevations on this date were between 12.4 and 12.7 feet below mean sea
level. The map was constructed by triangulation (three-point problem method) which
assumes the water table to be a planar surface. The wells ane situated with sufficient
distances between one another to give a reliable gradient measurement and flow direction
estimation.
The groundwater gradient based on this ma is approximately
A 0.002 (0.3 feet of
groundwater elevation difference over a length of 135 feet). The direction of
groundwater flow at the site is assumed to be perpendicular to the equal elevation contour
lines and in a direction from higher to lower groundwater elevation. The direction of
flow is therefore estimated to be to the northeast with a bearing of N 40'E.
ANALYTICAL RESULTS
Y Soil Analyses
A total of duee (3), soil samples, one from each well, were analyzed for BTEX by
EPA Method 8020 and TPH by EPA Method 418.1. Benzene and toluene were not
detected above analytical detection limits in any of the soil samples. Ethyl benzene was
detected in the ' -2 sample at a concentration of 2
>cg fti& and total
jxnes vlewere detected at a concentration of c in the same sample. Ethyl
benzene and total xylenes were not detected above analytical detection limits in samples
from SB-01 (MW-1) and SB-03 (MW-3). 7PH was detected at a concentration of 1500
mg1kg(ppm)in the SB-02 (MSW-2) soil sample,and 12 mg/kg (ppm)in the SB-01 (PrIW-
1) sample. TPH was not detected above analytical detection limits in the SB-03 (MW-3)
soil sample. Table 2 summarizes these soil analytical results; laboratory data sheets are
provided in Appendix E.
Groundwater Analyses
s. Three (3)groundwater samples, one from each well, were analyzed for BTEX by EPA
Method 602, and three (3) groundwater samples, one from each well, were analyzed for
4-2
175-07.R5 Q4191
