` - !
,05 November 2001 „
AGE-NC Project No: 95-0106 z
Temperature,pH and conductivity were measured at 0.5-gallon to 2-gallon intervals, as appropriate,
using an Oakton water analyzer to monitor stabilization of these groundwater parameters; Field data
;.logs are-in'clud'ed in Appendix A,, Purged water was•,temporarily stored on-site. in 55-gallon
DOT-approved H-17 storage drums pending proper disposal.
3.2. COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS OF GROUND WATER SAMPLES
Water sarriples were collected from each monitoring well using.new, disposable bailers. The samples
were .transferred into' 40-m1 EPA-approved vials containing 0.5 rnl'1'8% hydrochloric 'acid as a
;. preservative. The sample=vials.were then labeled with'the monitoring well designation,,date, time
of sampling and ilie sampler's initials. The-'sam' ples were transported in a chilled container under- ,
i; chain of custody to McCarnpbell Analytical, Inc. (MAI), a California Department of Health Services
(DHS)=certified analytical laboratory for analysis.-The samples were.analyzed for-
ho Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline. (TPH-g) in accordance with
EPA Method.8015 Modified, and
Volatile aromatic, compounds; specifically benzene, toluene, ethyibenzene, and total xylenes
(BTEX) with methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) in accordance.with EPA Method 8020.
4:0: FIN-PINGS',
' Ground water.,elevation and flow.direction were inferred from field data; hydrocarbon-impact-to
groundwater was was quantified by laboratory analysis o'f the ground water samples. ,
4 1.: GROUND WATER'ELEVATION AND'FLOW DIRECTION
The average relative ground.water elevationdecreased an average;of 0.99 feet.since the May 2000 ..
monitoring event and the average flow direction' was northward, varying from northeastward,to
northwestward. The,'average'ground water flow direction in the.area enclosed by monitoring wells
MW3, MW4, and MW6 was toward the northeast at a-gradient of approxiniately.0.01 fft/ft, and the'
flow direction-was toward the north=northwest'm' the area bounded byMW1, MW5,'and MW4 at
' a gradient of approximately 0.003 ft/
ft: water. elevations,data:-is'presented in Table 1; the
contoured ground water elevation data is shown on Figure 3.
N
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc. .
