1 <br /> CHP 407E Hazardous Materials Incident Report <br /> Page 4 <br /> SEQUENCE OF EVENTS <br /> On January 18, 1998, at 2325 hours, the San Joaquin County Sheriffs Department requested CHP <br /> assistance at a train derailment and subsequent hazardous materials spill. The train derailment <br /> occurred in an area east of De Vries Road and north of Harney Lane which is an unincorporated <br /> section of San Joaquin County. One sergeant and six officers were assigned to the detail. CHP <br /> involvement was limited to traffic control. All units secured on January 19, 1998, at 1630 hours. <br /> Union Pacific Railroad PD handled all other facets of the incident. The clean-up was completed on <br /> February 3, 1998. <br /> ROAD CLOSURES <br /> Harney Lane between Davis Road and De Vries Road and De Vries Road between Tretheway Road <br /> and Kingdon Road were closed from 2230 hours on January 18, 1998 until 1630 hours on January <br /> 19, 1998.
