This training covers site safety plans; safe work practices; nature of anticipated <br /> hazards; handling emergencies and self-rescue; rules and regulations for vehicle use; safe use of field <br /> equipment;handling, storage, and transportation of hazardous materials;employee rights and <br /> 1 <br /> responsibilities; use,care and limitations of personal protective clothin and equipment; and safe sampling <br /> g <br /> 3. techniques. <br /> F <br /> All TtEMI field personnel will be instructed in the use of all field safety equipment before any field <br /> sampling takes place. In addition, all TtEMI employees will be properly trained in the use of an air <br /> purifying respirator and in its capabilities, limitations, and maintenance. As required by California <br /> .R <br /> Regulations(8 CCR 1529), all personnel must be qualitatively fit tested prior to wearing a respirator. <br /> The TtEMI SO will have completed an additional 8 hours of supervisor training [8 CCR 5192(e)(4)]. He or <br /> she will be trained in the proper selection of respiratory protection,protective clothing, fit-testing <br /> procedures, air monitoring instruments and techniques,confined space entry, hazard recognition and <br /> ii <br /> evaluation, and symptoms of exposure to the chemicals of concern. ,The SO will conduct tailgate safety <br /> meetings prior to the start of work each day. <br /> Q . <br /> 4.2 Medical Monitoring Requirements <br /> " In accordance with the TtEMI Corporate Health and Safety Program,all employees who maybe exposed <br /> to hazardous materials in the course of their work are required to participate in the Corporate Medical <br /> it <br /> Monitoring Program. Prior to working at the site all employees must receive a baseline medical <br /> examination, including analysis of blood and urine for heavy metals audiometric testing, as well as direct <br /> examination by a physician. All employees must also be certified as'fit for working with a respirator, if an <br /> Iemployee suspects exposure,additional medical monitoring will be lavailable and the employee must <br /> I complete a TIEMI Employee Exposure/Injury Incident Report. All employ�ces participating in this project <br /> will be required.to complete TtEMI Monthly Exposure/Injury Reports and to undergo annual follow-up <br /> medical examinations. <br /> i. � <br /> 5.0 EMERGENCY PLANNING <br /> It will be the responsibility of the TtEMI SO to determine the appropriate response to an emergency <br /> +1 :6 <br /> incident. The response sequence will be to 1)remove all personnel from the source of the chemical or <br /> i� <br /> physical hazard 2)assess the severity of the incident,3)contact apgiopriate emergency assistance, and <br /> 4)swiftly move injured or exposed personnel to a rendezvous point for aid. <br /> 12 " <br /> h <br />
