M . <br /> - ri+S Lai <br /> d <br /> w CHAPTER 1 <br /> INTRODUC_iON <br /> On March 10, 1987, ARCO Petroleum Products Company (ARCO) <br /> removed a waste oil tank from ARCO Station 6080 located at 85 Louise <br /> Avenue, Lathrop, California (Figure 1-1) . A San Joaquin County <br /> Local health District (County) representative was on the site during <br /> 9_ ! <br /> tank removal. Due to suspected tank leakage, a site investigation <br /> at the station was requested by the County. brown and Caldwell (BC) <br /> itd was authorized by ARCO to proceed with the investigation. <br /> Agency Involvement <br /> C. ARCO notified the County and . the California Regional Water <br /> �T Quality Control Board, Central Valley Region (Regional Board) , an <br /> fr; <br /> March 27, 1987, by a work plan prepared and submitted by BC. P.C. <br /> Exploration; Inc. (PC) , completed the County permit application to <br /> drill monitoring wells at the site. The work plan and drilling <br /> permit were accepted by San Joaquin Country on April 9, 1987. The <br /> work plan and permit are included in Appendix A. <br /> Site Investigation <br /> During April 1987, BC conducted a site investigation at the <br /> station. The objectives of the investigation were to determine the <br /> groundwater gradient, evaluate soil and groundwater quality beneath . <br /> the site, evaluate the site geology, detect possible off-site migra- <br /> tion of floating and dissolved product in the groundwater, if any, <br /> and obtain information necessary for evaluating potential remedial <br /> s�E actions at the site. The work was generally conducted as described <br /> in BC's work plan. This report presents the methods. utilized in and <br /> a ekr - )- <br /> the results of the site investigation. <br /> - - <br />
