Broadway;
Stockton, CA
July 28, 1999
Project No. 757.2
I'
r 1.0 INTRODUCTION p
i
A commercial trucking firm operates on the site. Several large buildings are on the site.
Reportedly there are two domestic wells on site.
On January 22, 1999, one approximately 500 gallon gasoline UST and one approximately
500 gallon waste oil tank were removed under permit from the site. Soil samples collected at
the time of removal showed that the gasoline UST did not leak.j Soil samples collected from
beneath the waste oil UST and from the associated stockpile contained high levels of BTEX
compounds, diesel and motor oil range hydrocarbons and four of the five LUFT metals.
Iw
2.0 PROPOSED INVESTIGATION
Soil Disposal &Excavation Backfill
Prior to beginning any investigation work at the site, the excavations for the USTs should be
backfilled. The work will be performed as follows:
❑ Since both the gasoline tank excavation soil samples and 'stockpile soil samples tested
+' non-detect for petroleum hydrocarbons; the stockpiled soiVfrom this excavation can be
1 used to back fill that excavation. Some additional clean fill will need to be brought in. I
❑ The stockpiled soil from the waste oil tank excavation will be transported to an
appropriate facility to be disposed of. Clean fill will tie brought in to fill this excavation.
Soil & Groundwater Investi ag tion
The purpose of this investigation is to:
❑ Define the vertical and lateral extent of soil impacted with diesel and motor oil.
❑ Determine if groundwater has also been impacted.
To accomplish this goal, GTI proposes to install four boreholes at the site. Three will be
I converted into monitoring wells. I
1. To define the vertical extent of contamination, a deeper boring {SB-101} will be drilled
through the center of the former waste oil tank excavation to a depth of approximately
l
I
