A c Page 6 of 6 I _ , - . :. .. - -. , - .. ::fir. . . •. . , • .. - 4.2: ,'SOIL-SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS `Soil will be�sampled from the four borings at 5'.foot'inte ' als begimmng at 5'feet bsg using a 1.125 Geopr`obe soil sampling_assernblyloaded•with,four six-inch brass sleeves.Upon sample retrieval; '. the ends of the second sleeve will be covered with Teflon sheets;capped and sealed with tape. Each sample sleeve will be,labeled with the boring designation,- depth,-time, date and sampler's initials. _ Appropriately sealed and labeled samples will be placed ria chilled container on ice and transported under chain-of-custody procedure to a DHS-certified laboratory. Soils encountered in the borings will.be visually,classified by an AGE geologist-in accordance with the Unified Il Classification :System(USCS).Additionally,soil.samples will be field screened for the presence ofvolatile organic. .•compoundsusing an OVM. 4.3. GROUND WATER SAMPLING PROCEDURES ' For the collection of`.grab'ground water samples,selected probe borings will be advanced to a depth' of four feet below the ground water surface. `Grab' ground water samples'wili be;collected using a Geoprobe water sampling'assembly with a pre-cleaned 0.01 slotted PVC screen. Groundwater ' samples will'be extracted with a'positive displacement Teflon sample tubing and'ball bearing assembly inserted through the hollow center of the push rods into the screened section.The samples;,, ;will be collected,in laboratory-supplied, 40-m1 VOA vialls containing 0.5 ml hydrochloric.acid,as ' sample preservative; 1-liter amber bottles and plastic bottles.'The labeled bottles will be placed in a chilled container under ice and transported under chain-of-custody to a DHS-certified laboratory. 4.4. 1 EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION Prior-to use;all sampling tools used for sample collection will be thoroughly rinsed with clean water after being washed :with a, solution. of Alconox. All probing rods will:be" cleaned prior to ' advaneement at=each-probe boring location.' ' 4.5. 'BORING ABANDONMENT rAll'probe*borings will-be permanently sealed to-prevent yertical migratiohi of contaminants: Soil i ' borings shall be abandoned bybackfilling.with portland from the total:depth to surface grade.
