Sierra Pacific Groundwater Consultants, Inc.
_ HYDROGEOLOGISTS&GEOLOGISTS
r
RECEIVED
October 18 1995
OCT 19 , "5
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
William P. Schuler, President PERMIT/SERVICES
Geo. F. Schuler, Inc.
1705 North Broadway Avenue
Stockton, California 95205
Subject. Analytical Test Results from Ground Water Sampling at Geo. F. Schuler, Inc., 1705 North
Broadway Avenue, Stockton, California, Sierra-Pacific c Project No. 94-055.04
Dear Mr. Schuler:
On September 18, 1995, Sierra-Pacific Groundwater Consultants, Inc. (Sierra-Pacific) collected a
suite of ground water samples from a solitary two-inch monitoring well (MW-11) located at 1705
North Broadway Avenue, Stockton using a Grundfoss submersible pump in accordance with Sierra-
Pacific (EPA) standard practices (Appendix A). Water samples were collected in 1000 ml amber-
colored glass bottles, 40-ml VOAs acidified with hydrochloric acid, 1000 ml plastic bottles acidified
with sulfuric acid, and 500 ml non-preserved plastic bottles. No sampling difficulties were
encountered.
The water samples were placed in an iced cooler and immediately transported to Sequoia Analytical
Laboratories, Inc. Samples were tested for Total Extractable Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TEPH) by
EPA Method 8015, Total Purgeable Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPPH) by EPA Method 8020,
BTEX (benzene, toluene, ethyl-benzene, and xylene) compounds by EPA Method 8020, and
Volatile Halogenated Hydrocarbon Compounds (including 1,2-DCP) by EPA Method 601. Water
samples were also tested for Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen (TKN) and nitrates.
The ground water samples from MW-11 contained 18 mg/l nitrates, which is believed to be the
regional background concentration of nitrates in the uppermost saturated zone. No TKN
compounds were detected. No petroleum or volatile halogenated hydrocarbon compounds (eg. 1,2-
DCP) were detected (Appendix Q. The ground water samples from MW-11 were relatively clear
and odorless. No oily sheen was observed.
A copy of Sierra-Pacific's Third-Quarter 1995, Quarterly Monitoring Report, Former PureGro/Brea
Facility, 1905 North Broadway Avenue, Stockton, is enclosed for your consideration. Your analytical
results are attached in Appendix C. The ground water flow pattern is illustrated on Figure 3.
l.
(916)933-1468
4911 Windplay Drive.Suite 4 El Dorado Hills.California 95762 (9161933-3197 FAX
