Fi-ulcane PE QEP CSP CIH <br /> > X > <br /> Subject: Report # 960801 <br /> Detailed report of the results of my evaluation-completed at approximately 11:45 AM, on <br /> Thursday morning, 15 August 1996 of the interior of Room 118, located at ground level <br /> on the western side of the North Stockton Motel Six. The goal of this evaluation was the <br /> identification and quantification of potential harmful or toxic volatile vapors, if any, that <br /> might be present in any part of the aforementioned space. <br /> On Monday 5 August 1996, at approximately 12:50 AM, a small explosion occurred in Room 118 of <br /> the North Stockton Motel Six, which is located at 6717 Plymouth Road. There Sid not appear to have <br /> been any significant structural damage to the building as a result of this explosion. The Stox kton Po-- <br /> lice Department responded to this problem; their Police Report covering it is #96-39-281. As a result <br /> of the investigation covered by this report, it was determined that an attempt had been made to use this <br /> space to manufacture methamphetamines. A variety of drug related materials and containers were <br /> found to be strewn about this room, mostly on the floor. Although most of the containers and bottles <br /> that were present appeared to be empty, serious concern about the relative safety of individuals who <br /> might subsequently have to be or work in this motel ro oni remained. The potential hazard centered on <br /> the possibility that residual ambient chemical vapors might still be present. A careful analytical survey <br /> of all areas within this space was required to alleviate this fear. <br /> ON-SITE AMBIENT AIR EVALUATION PROGRAM <br /> Instrumentation Used: <br /> A <br /> ,,,a pw i of rias overall rnonivating program, two sep-araic analytic Al insirumenis were used to monitor <br /> the ambient air in this structure. In order, these were: <br /> 1. A Foxboro Total Vapor Analyzer [Model: TVA.-1;X)OA, S/N 491.8378) equipped with both a <br /> photo ionization detector(PID) and a flame ionization detector(FID). This instrument logs all the <br /> data generated simultaneously by each of its two detectors. Although limited in its capability to <br /> measure the complete spectrum of halogenated hydrocarbons [ie. it caruxrt measure chloroform, <br /> methvlene chloride, Freon 12, etc.], the TVA-1000A can readily quantify virtually any other <br /> volatile hydrocarbon [ie. toluene, naphtha, ethanol, isopropanol, etc.]. Its dual detector system <br /> ensures that it can perform this function, and do so at solvent vapor concentrations of 0.02 ppm <br /> or greater — ie. this analyzer's minimum detection level (MDL) is 0.02 ppm =20 ppb. <br /> 2. A Foxboro Microprocessor Controlled, Variable Pathlength, Variable Wavelength, Infrared <br /> Spectrophotometric Gas Analyzer [Model: ivIIRAN IBX, S/N 7003041. This analyzer has been <br /> precalibrated to provide accurate real-time ambient concentration measurements of more than 100 <br /> different volatile chemicals, including virtually every common halogenated hydrocarbon [ie. chlo- <br /> e!eE�hone� Addrea5: <br /> _.. \, "tet Office Bnx 7bZ , <br /> 5tockton,CA 9�26?-Ob <br />
