UPS
. July 15, 1992
Job No. 074-013
' Page 4
reference datum (assumed elevation + 100 feet) on Plate 2. The elevation data are
presented below on Table I. The data indicate no differences in the elevations of the
two targets nearest the excavation and slight differences in the elevations of the two
' targets furthest from the excavation; considering the distance of these targets from
the excavation, the slight differences are likely the result of survey error.
TABLE I
ELEVATION MEASUREMENTS
SETTLEMENT MONITORING
ELEVATION
(feet)
TARGET' PRIOR TO FOLLOWING
OV EREXCAVATION BACKFILL
' #1 105.94 105.93
. #2 105.87 105.86
#3 105.75 105.75
' #4 105.96 105.96
NOTES:
Refer to approximate plan locations on Plate 3.
Reference datura assigned arbitrary elevation of + 100 feet; see Plate 3.
1 Soft, disturbed soil which remained in the excavation after tank removal was removed
from the excavation and was placed on the existing waste-oil tank stocl<pile (see
Stockpile C on Plate 4). Undisturbed native soil removed during overexcavation of the
sidewalls and bottom was placed just northerly of the pre-existing stockpiles (see
Stockpile D on Plate 4), About 50 cubic yards of soil was stockpiled during the
subject work. The total volume of stockpiled soil from this and previous work by
others appears to be about 310 cubic yards.
The stockpiles were sampled from the 12 locations shown on Plate 4. At each
location a sample was obtained by excavating about two feet into the stockpile with
a shovel, and hand driving a clean brass tube into the moist material. Each sample
' was sealed, logged onto a chain-of-custody form and placed on ice as described
above. Following sampling activities, the stockpiles were covered with a plastic
membrane.
■Geotechnical
ami I
a
o
