UNITED PARCEL SERVICE <br /> Site Safety Plan <br /> '00October7, 1991 <br /> 9.4 Em <br /> er enc E i meet <br /> Vehicles used for site work will be equipped with a first aid kit and <br /> safety equipment including: <br /> ♦ fluorescent vests, <br /> ♦ cones, <br /> ♦ flags (as needed) <br /> ♦ barricades (as needed) <br /> ♦ fire extinguisher-dry chemical ABC-type extinguisher, <br /> ♦ flashlight, <br /> ♦ water, suitable for drinking, <br /> ♦ portable eye wash, <br /> ♦ appropriate emergency bandage material. <br /> 9 .5 Carbon Treatment <br /> If this site involves the use of a Carbon Treatment System, then the <br /> following information will apply. <br /> The Carbon Treatment System is equipped with an emergency shut-off. <br /> The system will shut off automatically when the non-methane TPH vapor <br /> concentrations in the intermediate line reach 5% of the Lower Explosive <br /> Limit (LEL) for gasoline as recorded by the system monitors. <br /> The suggested equipment for decontamination and spill response <br /> procedures includes: <br /> ♦ wash tubs (3) <br /> ♦ plastic sheets <br /> ♦ trash bags <br /> ♦ scrub brushes <br /> ♦ detergent <br /> ♦ sotbent booms (as applicable) <br /> The carbon system is a closed system where no chemicals are used. The <br /> potential for a spill is minimal and thus spill containment is not <br /> addressed in this Site Safety Plan. <br /> 9.6 Drilling Procedures <br /> A Dig-Alert authorization number must be obtained prior to drilling. <br /> During the drilling operation, two persons (one designated as "driller" <br /> and the other as "helper") must be present at all times. The helper <br /> (whether Groundwater Technology, Inc. personnel or subcontractors) must <br /> be instructed as to the location of the emergency shut-off switch. <br /> Every attempt must be made to keep unauthorized personnel from entering <br /> the work area. If this is not possible, the operation should be shut <br /> down until the area is cleared. The area where the operation is taking <br /> place shall be cordoned off with a barricade. The Site Safety Officer <br /> or the Field Team Leader has the authority and the responsibility to <br /> 21 <br /> ,. ._. <br />
