In the County Assessors Records, for the`years 1963, 1968 and 1974 is a
listing of a 500-gallon underground fuel storage tank (UST) valued to the property. No
record was found as to the disposition of the tank. However, it was reportedly filled with
cement and left in place. Site inspection found evidence of what appears to be a former fill
pipe plugged with concrete and a former pump dispenser pad capped with concrete. .A
magnetometer survey showed evidence of a small size tank oriented west of the fill pipe
structure.
E
On July 12, 2005, V&W.Drilling and Geological Technics4nc. (GTI) personnel mobilized to
the site. Three GeoProbe boreholes (GP-1, GP-2 & GP-3)' were advanced to a total depth of
20 feet below grade surface (bgs) in the locations that are shown in Figure 2. Soil samples
.were obtained in each location form 12 and 14 feet b s.) The laboratory analyses ses of these
samples revealed the presence of gasoline and diesel rano e petroleum hydrocarbons in the
f vicinity of the alleged UST.
GTI's preliminary interpretation of the approximate extent of the contamination and soil
types was included in our August 3, 2005 "Tank Closure-'Investigation". GTI subsequently
developed our September 26, 2005 "Soil Investigation" work plan to further define the lateral
and vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbons at the site. The work plan proposed advancing
Lsix direct push borehole and obtaining soil and groundwair samples for laboratory analysis.
The following sections detail the field activities completed in accordance with GTI's work
plan.
4
