v11117 Lone Palm Avenue, Suite B
y * Modesto, California 95351
www.atc-enviro.com
209.579,2221
Fax 209,579.2225
A S S o C I A-T E S I N C
December 7,2000
17292.0002
Mr. Jeff Wong
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
304 E. Weber Street, Third Floor
Stockton, California 95202
Subject: Workplan Addendum. for Supplemental Subsurface Investigation at Stagg High
School, 1621 Brookside Road, Stockton, California
Dear Mr.Wong:
ATC Associates Inc. has prepared this document to serve as an addendum to ATC's Workplan for
Supplemental Subsurface Investigation at Stagg High School, 1621 Brookside Roam Stockton,
California (Workplan), dated September 12, 2000. The Workplan was prepared by ATC on
behalf of Stockton Unified School District (SUSD) to evaluate the vertical and horizontal extent
of petroleum impacted soil and groundwater in the vicinity of the former underground storage
tank (UST). The Workplan was requested by San Joaquin County Public Health Services,
Environmental Health Division(PHS/EHD) in correspondence dated July 21, 2000.
The original scope of work included obtaining permits, advancing five soil borings using direct
push technology and collecting soil and groundwater samples, laboratory analysis of selected soil
and groundwater samples, and preparing a summary report.
However, during a June 6, 2000 telephone conversation between Mr. Tom Lutterman of ATC
and Mr. Jeff Wong of PHS/EHD, the Workplan was discussed and alternative investigative
methodologies were evaluated. PHS/EHD and ATC both agreed that installing additional
monitoring wells was warranted at the site in lieu of the soil borings proposed in the Workplan.
The monitoring wells will provide repeatable groundwater sampling points perhaps preventing the
i
need for.additional drilling activities. ATC agreed to submit an addendum to the Workplan that
will include the installation of additional monitoring wells at the project site,
r
wA17292.0002,reportslwkp.doc 1
