Activities during
the quarter have included sampling for dissolved hydrocarbons and $
( monitoring of groundwater.
Groundwater monitoring conducted in May, June, and July showed
the water table has fluctuated, due mostly to the tides, between
1 to 2 feet since September 1989 (Table 1) . The groundwater
gradient maps (Figures 2, 3, & 4) illustrates a west to south-
west gradient at an approximate magnitude of 0.003 ft./ft.
Table 2 shows the; tides and the times the wells were monitored.
The water gradient fluctuates with the tides, but is
predominantly southwesterly.
Groundwater samples were collected from the three wells on July .
24, 1990, for analysis of benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes
(BTEX) and total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline and diesel 2
(TPHG & TPHD) , by EPA methods 8020/8015.
