Weber Avenue
Stockton, California 95202
RE: RESULTS OF BASE-LINE GROUNDWATER SAMPLING ON UNIT 25 OF THE PROPOSED
BROOKSIDE ESTATES RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT (FORMER SARGENT BARNHART
TRACT), STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
Dear Ms. Lagorio:
This letter presents the results of the base-line groundwater sampling on the above-reference site.
The sampling event and laboratory results are discussed below.
GROUNDWATER SAMPLING
Two grab groundwater samples (SB-1 and SB-2) were collected from near the eastern perimeter
of Unit 25 on June 3, 1998 using a Geoprobe drill rig. Sample locations are shown on the
attached Figure 1. Prior to drilling, McLaren/Hart obtained a drilling permit from the San
Joaquin County Environmental Management Department(SJCEMD). Underground Service Alert
(USA) was also notified prior to drilling to minimize the potential of encountering underground
utilities in each drilling location.
Each boring was advanced to 15 feet below grade (approximately 3 feet below first encountered
groundwater). First groundwater was encountered at approximately 12 feet in each boring. Static
water level rose to approximately 5 feet below grade in each boring. Soil samples were collected
at 5, 10 and 15 feet below grade for field screening using an organic vapor monitor (OVM). No
positive OVM readings were detected in the soil samples. Upon reaching total depth, new 1-inch
diameter PVC well screen and blank casing were installed in each boring to facilitate collection
of a groundwater sample. A groundwater sample was collected from SB-1 and SB-2 using a new
disposable PVC bailer. The samples were placed in containers appropriate to the selected
analyses, labeled, and placed on ice in a thermally insulated chest pending delivery to laboratory.
Following collection of the groundwater samples, both borings were grouted to the surface using
a 5% bentonite/cement slurry under the supervision of a SJCEM inspector.
11101 White Rock Road, Rancho Cordova, CA 95670 (916)638-3696 FAX(916)638-2842
