Ms. Margaret Lagorio
May 22, 1998
Page 2
appropriate to the selected analyses. If insufficient water is produced using the Hydropunch,
then the Hydropunch device will be removed and temporary PVC well screen and casing will
be place downhole to facilitate collection of a groundwater sample.
• Following collection of each groundwater sample, each boring will be grouted to the surface
using a cement/5% bentonite slurry under the supervision of a San Joaquin County inspector.
New disposable sample collection materials (PVC well screen and casing, sample tubing, etc.) will
be used at each boring, and all re-usable equipment (e.g. Geoprobe rod and Hydropunch) will be
decontaminated between each boring using a Liquinox/water solution.
LABORATORY ANALYSIS
The groundwater samples will be appropriately labeled and packaged in a thermally insulated ice
chest and hand delivered under chain-of-custody protocol to CLS Laboratories of Rancho Cordova,
California for analysis (CA DOHS ELAP x/1233). The groundwater samples will be analyzed for
total petroleum hydrocarbons in the gasoline (TPH-g) and diesel (TPH-d) ranges by EPA Method
8015M and benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene, total xylenes (BTEX) and MTBE by EPA Method
8020. Should MTBE be detected by EPA Method 8020, McLaren/Hart will recommend our client
confirm the MTBE result by EPA Method 8260. Samples will be analyzed on a one-week turn
around time.
REPORTING
Upon reviewing the analytical data, McLaren/Hart will forward one copy of the analytical data
sheets to San Joaquin County Environmental Health as required by the drilling permit conditions.
CLOSURE
If you have any questions concerning this work plan, please call me at 916-851-1258.
Since;ely,
Keith Hoofard
Senior Associate Geoscientist
Attachments
cc: Mr. Doug Mull, Lewis Homes Management Corporation
® fjqg!If wen aI sm
