South San Joaquin Irrigation District
DRAFT Lead Assessment&Abatement Work Plan April 9, 2017
3.2 Lead Pellet Removal
Lead pellets are located on both sides of the canal and can be seen on the ground surface on each
side's respective bank and road. For example, pellets can be seen in the eroded channels running
from the road into the canal.
Properly trained and equipped personnel will scrape, sweep and excavate the soil surface on SSJID
property and load this soil into dump trucks that will bring the soil to the ESC property for sifting and
lead pellet recovery and recycling using ESC's existing permit. Soil will be removed to a depth that
visually indicates the absence of pellets.
Appropriate dust control, establishment of exclusion areas, tire washes and other measures will be
taken to protect the health and safety of workers and any adjacent personnel.
3.3 Soil Sampling and Testing
After completion of Task 3.2, soil samples will be collected on SSJID's property using the grid shown
on f=igure 6.
Page 12 Blankinship & Associates , Inc .
