John Schroeter - 2 - • 30 January 2007
• The Workplan states groundwater samples will be analyzed for both total and dissolved
constituent concentrations. As stated in Item 7.d of the 14 November 2006 Incomplete
Report of Waste Discharge correspondence, "Please note that all groundwater samples j
for metals analysis in this investigation should be filtered prior to digestion and analysis."
You should consult the June 1989 Designated Level Methodology for Waste
Classification and Cleanup Level Determination for further information on this topic. The
document is available at:
http://www.waterboards,ca.gov/centralvalley/available_documents/guidance/dIm.pdf
• Please describe how the disposal of soil cuttings, well development water, and
groundwater purging water will be performed in a way that prevents discharge to the
Mokelumne River. Discharge of liquid wastes,to the standby storage pond may be an
acceptable method.
• The description of the wellhead does not describe placement of concrete pad at the
surface. Please address this construction feature. The Well Installation section of the
Workplan refers the reader to Attachment B to see a typical monitoring well construction
diagram; the diagram was not included in the transmittal. Please provide the diagram.
Please address the items listed above prior to implementing the Workplan. If you have any
questions on this Conditional Approval, please contact me at (916) 464-4616.
TIMOTHY .
