The site is adjacent to
the Stockton Deep Water Ship Channel on the north side of;the Turning Basin. In 2004,
Geo-Phase Environmental, Inc. conducted a Phase.1 enviro,nmerital site assessment (PSA)
at the site. The PSA identified a degraded,concrefe`lineatyne pit`as a=possible'source for
soil and/or groundwater contamination. The site assessment was,';also performed to identify
any potential contamination associated with the 1987 removal of an underground storage
tank. The PSA recommended a soil investigation to assess 'subsurface conditions.
On 25 February 2005, a soil investigation was performed atthe site. The investigation
consisted of drilling three Geo Probe borings and collecting soil and groundwater samples.
One boring was drilled in the former UST tank pit area (B-3)' one.drilled within a few feet of
the brine pit (B-2) and one boring (B-1) was drilled in the northeast corner of the property }
with the intent of collecting a groundwater sample that would represent background
conditions for salinity and total dissolved solids.
