Valley Water Treatment,
Page
Groundwater Monitoring Well Construction
' Project No. 4802
March 14, 2006
determining the presence of free-phase gasoline. No measurable free product
was detected.
' The wells were developed using a Wattera pump with new, dedicated, Teflon
tubing for each well. Well water, was pumped into 55-gallon DOT approved
' polyethylene drums, properly labeled, and temporarily stored on-site. The rate
of well purging was monitored, and each well was purged of at least three casing
volumes or until the groundwater parameters (temperature, conductivity, and
PH) had stabilized indicating that water representative of actual aquifer
conditions was entering the well_ Groundwater parameter stabilization was
characterized by three successive readings within 10 percent.
1 The sample water was carefully transferred to 40 ml VOA vials preserved with
hydrochloric acid provided by the laboratory. Extreme care was taken to
' prevent agitation of the sample before they were sealed. Disposable gloves were
worn by the sampling technician while collecting all samples. The gloves were
changed between the collection of each sample to reduce the potential for cross-
contamination. All samples were checked for head space bubbles, labeled,
inserted into foam holders and placed in an ice chest cooled to 4°C for transport
10 to the laboratory.
2
.3 Waste Disposal
During drilling, the soil cuttings were stored in drums and will be disposed of at
a class lI landfill facility.
A total of 3 drums of gasoline contaminated rinseate water were generated
during the drilling, purging, and sampling activities described above. This
water will be removed for recycling by American Valley Environmental.
1
I
i
2937 Veneman Ave.,#B240 Geo-Phase Environmental Inc.
