AUgu5t S,200S
OA Project Number:EOS09SA
6.0 PERCOLATION TEST INFORMATION
6.1 Percolation Test Locations
A site map indicating the locations of the percolation test holes is included as Plate 1 in the appendix
of this report.
6.2 Number of Percolation Tests
One shallow and one deep percolation tests were conducted on Parcels 7,8,9,10 and 11.
6.3 Boring Preparation and Presaturation
A total of five shallow and five deep soil borings were advanced on the Site. The deep and shallow
soil borings were drilled with a truck-mounted deep rock augur rig on July 29 and 30,2005.
A 1.S-inch diameter PVC pipe with perforations on the bottom was used to measure the drop of
water in the percolation test boring.Approximately 2 inches of "pea gravel"were placed in the
bottom of the open soil boring, then the PVC pipe was installed on top of the gravel."Pea Gravel"
was then used to backfill in the annular space.
Presaturation of the percolation test holes occurred on August 1,2005.111e depth of water used to
pre-soak was 12 inches above the bottom of the borings.
6.4 Condition of Borings After Presaturation
After the 24-hour soak period, the presaturated holes were found to be intact on the day of testing.
All five of the deep percolation test holes were dry, while the shallow test holes contained water on
the bottom.
6.5 Percolation Test Procedure
Percolation tests were conducted for the borings on August 2,2005 in accordance with the
requirements of the EHD.A percolation test with a duration of four hours was performed for each
bole. The last half an hour was observed by Ms.Lisa Medina,Senior Registered Environmental
Health Inspector,EHD.
8
