Dark and wet oil stains were found underneath the used oil tank and drum of contaminated absorbents. <br /> Metal fines were left to accumulate on the shop floor next to the brake lathe machine and drum of hazardous waste <br /> metal fines. Automotive fluids and parts washer fluids were found underneath the Landa automatic parts washer. <br /> Facilities shall be maintained and operated to minimize the possibility of a fire, explosion, or release of hazardous <br /> waste to air, soil, or surface water which could threaten human health or the environment. Immediately, clean up the <br /> spilled automotive fluids, metal fines, and dark oil stains and manage according to Title 22 hazardous waste <br /> regulations. Submit a statement and supporting documentation explaining how this waste was managed. <br /> This is a repeat violation, Class II. <br /> 404 CCR 66265.174 Failed to inspect hazardous waste storage areas at least weekly. <br /> Hazardous waste containers are not inspected weekly. The green drum of contaminated absorbents was left outside <br /> and the concrete around it has oily debris. The parts manager could not confirm that weekly inspections of containers <br /> of hazardous waste were being conducted. Hazardous waste container storage and transfer areas shall be inspected <br /> weekly for leaking containers and for deterioration of containers and the containment system caused by corrosion and <br /> other factors.
