Scott Mansholt w"I L E <br /> Chevron Environmental Management Company <br /> 6111 Bollinger Canyon Road <br /> BR 1 Y3432 <br /> San Ramon, CA 94583 <br /> REVIEW - SOIL AND GROUNDWATER INVESTIGATION REPORT, TRACY BYRON ROAD <br /> PROJECT, TRACY, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY <br /> Regional Water Board staff has reviewed the referenced report, dated 21 May 2008, prepared <br /> for Chevron Environmental Management Company (Chevron) by Science Applications <br /> International Corporation (SAIC). Additionally, we reviewed previous soil and groundwater <br /> investigation reports conducted by SAIL and others from 1996 to 2004 for predecessors of <br /> Chevron. Detailed comments are provided in the attached memorandum and summarized <br /> below. <br /> SAIC's report summarized and concluded the following: <br /> • Soil and groundwater has been adequately delineated at the five boring locations and <br /> additional characterization was not needed. <br /> • Step-out borings SB-42, 43, and 45 (originally approved by our September 2004 <br /> response to the workplan) should be relocated. <br /> • Historical information for the Calderon Store property indicates that the boring proposed <br /> for this property was not needed. <br /> Regional Water Board staff concur that the borings and analytical results have delineated the <br /> upgradient extent of affected groundwater.
