Work Plan—Bvron Road, Tracy,California
June 16,2003 06-6102-00-2931-030
Page 10
Department of Water Resources and Regulatory Agency File Review
As requested by the RWQCB, SAIC will conduct a search of Department of Water Resources (DWR)
files for water supply wells within a 2,000-foot radius of the Byron Road corridor. Specifically, SAIL
will identify domestic, municipal, or irrigation water supply wells that may represent pathways to
potential receptors. SAIC will file a request with the RWQCB to review and copy well logs archived at
DWR, and schedule a review time. In addition, SAIC will contact local water purveyors and irrigation
districts for water supply well locations and construction details, not identified by the DWR search.
SAIC will also conduct a drive by field reconnaissance of domestic, municipal, or irrigation water supply
wells within 500-feet of the project corridor to verify or confirm wells identified during the DWR well
search. SAIC will also identify other potential sensitive receptors such as: nearby surface water bodies or
wetlands, basements, utility vaults, and utilities. Water supply wells and sensitive receptors identified
will be mapped and tabulated.
Data Summary
Because multiple properties have been investigated for potential petroleum releases along the Byron Road
corridor, SAIC will conduct a comprehensive review of past and current records and reports of soil and
groundwater investigations associated with the study area. Soil and groundwater data will be
summarized; locations of soil borings, monitoring wells, and test pits will be plotted and included in the
data summary report. SAIC will also review dewatering logs which include well construction details, and
trench excavation Iogs prepared during the Tracy Westside Channel Outfall project. Additionally, SAIC
will review the cross-section completed by Geomatrix
SAIC will conduct, if necessary, a regulatory file review to obtain missing records or reports that will
help identify environmental conditions in connection with the Byron Road corridor. Agencies to be
researched could include:
• Regional Water Quality Control Board—Central Valley Region
• San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
Task 2: Conceptual Site Model
On completion of the above tasks, SAIC will prepare a conceptual site model. The findings, opinions and
conclusions shall be supported by documentation collected during the above tasks.
Task 3: Soil and Groundwater Investigation Work Plan
Based on the conclusions and recommendations of the data summary and conceptual site model, a Soil
and Groundwater Investigation Work Plan will be prepared to characterize the lateral and vertical extent
of petroleum contamination beneath the study area in accordance with the CTA. The EDR Report, aerial
photographs, and other pertinent documentation will be clearly referenced and appended to the report.
SCHEDULE
Below is a schedule of submittals for the next phases of this project.
K:CVX-OVP\ROW SITES\westsidechannel\draftworkplan.doc
