This work is being performed by Geornatrix
Consultants,Inc.(Geomatrix) on behalf of Chevron Pipe Line Company(CPL).
The four monitoring wells were installed by Levine-Fricke on 24 May 1990 at the locations shown on
Figure 2. Well construction details were presented in the Levine-Fricke 27 July 1990"Report on Ground-
Water Investigations, Sunboro Development Corporation Parcel B Tracy, California." The monitoring
wells are 2 inches in diameter and constructed of schedule 40 polyvinylchloride well casing.and screen
with 0.02-inch perforations. Well construction details are summarized in Table 1. The top of the
perforated interval in each well ranges from 5.5 to 8 feet below ground surface (bgs) and the bottom of
each well ranges from 15.5 to 19 feet bgs. The filter material(Lonestar#3)extended approximately 2 feet
above the top of the well screen and a bentonite seal approximately 2 feet thick was placed above the filter
pack. The remaining annulus was filled with cement/bentonite grout.
The proposed abandonment will be performed in accordance with San Joaquin County Public Health
Services, Environmental Health Division (SJCEHD) well abandonment standards. Well abandonment
services will be provided by a California C57 licensed contractor. The work schedule will be coordinated
with a representative of SJCEHD. The permit required from SJCEHD will be obtained by Geomatrix
prior to the start of work.
The wells will be abandoned by removing the Well materials completely using overdrilling methods and
grouting the resulting borehole through tremie pipe to within*3 feet of the ground surface. The remainder
of the borehole will be filled with native soil- Following Meld activities, a brief letter report documenting
Geomatrix Consultants, Inc.
Engineers, Geologists,and Environmental Scientists
[Ip]C:1MSOFFICEIWINWORD%CHEV RONU499-52.DOC
