I have outlined the work conducted at the site to(W:and some of the topics that were
discussed:
• Geamatrix Consultants,Inc. (Geomatrix)sampled existing groundwater.monitoring wells
MW-3 and MW4 on April 5, 1996.
• Geomatrix located and sampled well MW-1 on April 2 , 1996.
• Geomatrix located well MW-2 on May 2, 1996. The well head will be reconstructed and the
well sampled today,May 3; 1996.
• Groundwater samples will be analyzed for Total Extrac ble Petroleum Hydrocarbons
(TEPH)against a crude oil standard(Cs-C3S carbon ran ),TEPH against a diesel standard
(Cto-Cao carbon range) and Total Purgable Petroleum ydrocarbons against a gasoline
standard(Q-C12 carbon range)using Method 8015 m ified,for polyaromatic hydrocarbons
using Method 8310,and for benzene, toluene, ethylbe ne,and total xylenes using Method
8020.
• Another round of sampling will be conducted(luring the week of June 2, 1996,
approximately 30 days from the sampling of well MW-2. The data from both rounds of
groundwater sampling will be submitted to your office Ong with gradient information by the
week of June 30, 1996.
If significant amounts of petroleum hydrocarbon constituen ts are not present in groundwater,
CPL will request that DO further action be required and a closure letter be issued,as we discussed
Yesterday. In addition to obtaining regulatory closure for tb,.site,CPL will develop a soil
management plan for transmittal to the City Of Tracy, the PT DPertY developer, and your office.
The management plan will outline soil handling procedures and responsibilities should
petroleum-affected soil be encountered during property dev lopment(e.g.installation of utilities)
or future Property use(e.g.installation of a swimming Pool). The regulatory gul Ory closure and the
(non-regulatory)soil management plan will allow the Property to be developed in a timely
manner.
