Box 6012 <br /> San Ramon, California 94583 <br /> Subject: No Further Action Required Request Report Clarification <br /> Mountain House Development Site#3 <br /> Mountain House, San Joaquin County, California <br /> Dear Mr. Higgins <br /> SAIC Energy, Environment & Infrastructure, LLC (SAIC) prepared this letter at the request of <br /> Chevron Environmental Management Company. SAIC submitted a no further action required <br /> request report (NFARRR)l for the Mountain House Development Site#3 to the Central Valley <br /> Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB) on October 22, 2010. During Central Valley <br /> RWQCB review of the NFARRR, it was noted that further clarification was necessary in <br /> sections 2.2.2 and 2.2.3. <br /> Section 2.2.2 contained a typographical error stating that SAIC used the sample median to <br /> represent the EPC for ethylbenzene; toluene should have been listed instead of ethylbenzene. <br /> Section 2.2.3 should include details regarding the potential cancer risk and non-cancer hazard to <br /> a hypothetical construction worker, as described below: <br /> SAIC estimated total potential cancer risk to a hypothetical construction worker from oral, <br /> dermal, and inhalation exposures to on-site soils to be 2E-08. This level of risk is below the de <br /> minimis level of 1E-06. This evaluation indicates an acceptable cancer risk for exposures to on- <br /> site soils for a hypothetical construction worker. <br /> SAIC estimated the total potential non-cancer hazard to a hypothetical construction worker from <br /> oral, dermal, and inhalation exposures to on-site soils to be 2E-04.
