From Science to Sotutiuns'M
January 30, 2008
Mr. Michael Infurna .1AN S 12Qn8
San Joaquin County
Environmental Heath Department EPJWlRDn&JEfJ T HEALT,y
304 E Weber Avenue, 3rd Floor A4F1f tIuC111,vf
Stockton, California 95202-2708
Re: Permit Application for Geopr oring Installation 2-9
Mountain House Developmen #6 9t2,0
Mountain House California 9 4 Mou ,
Dear Mr. Infurna:
At the request of Chevron Environmental Management Company (Chevron EMC),
Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) has prepared these permit
applications for the installation of nine Geoprobe borings at the above referenced site.
The borings are located on County Assessor Parcel Numbers (APN#) 209-150-27 and
209-150-17. The latter of which is in the Union Pacific Rail Road (UPRR) Right of Way
(ROW). An access agreement between Chevron EMC and UPRR has been obtained and
is enclosed.
As you may recall, boring permits for the installation of an additional eighteen Geoprobe°
borings associated with this project was issued by the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department (SJCEHD) on October 10, 2007. However, the Geoprobe° borings
were not installed as site access agreements for the remaining two off-site properties
(APN#'s 209-150-27 and 209-150-17) were pending. Consequently, site access has been
granted and the additional eighteen Geoprobe°borings will also be installed as the permit
remains valid as it expires one year from its issue date (October 10, 2007). In addition,
an encroachment permit for accessing the West Byron Road ROW and a traffic control
plan has been enclosed.
In summary, SAIC plans to install 27 Geoprobe°borings up to a depth of 40 feet below
ground surface (bgs) during drilling activities at the site. Soil and groundwater samples
will be collected from the Geoprobe° borings. Destruction of the borings will be in
accordance with San Joaquin County guidelines. The driller for this project is RSI
Drilling, C57 #802-334. The Licensed Contractor's Declaration is included. SAIC
requests that the approved permit be sent to Larry Silva, at SAIC, 3800 Watt Ave, Suite
210, Sacramento, CA 95821.
3800 Watt Avenue,Suite#210,Sacramento, CA 95821(916),974-8600-Fax:(916)979-3735
