Box 6012 <br /> San Ramon, CA 94583 <br /> WORKPLAN ADDENDUM—SOIL AND GROUNDWATER INVESTIGATION—MOUNTAIN <br /> HOUSE SITES # 1 & # 2, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY <br /> We have reviewed the 12 March 2004 Workplan Addendum, Soil and Groundwater Investigation, <br /> Mountain House Sites #I and #2, Mountain House, San Joaquin County submitted by your consultant, <br /> Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). Additionally, we have reviewed - Chevron <br /> Pipeline Easement Assessment Report, dated 26 November 2001 conducted by Condor Earth Technologies, <br /> Inc. (Condor) for Trimark Communities, Inc. (Trimark). Trimark owns properties adjacent to both sides of <br /> the Byron Road easement and is proposing a restoration project of Mountain House Creek. <br /> The Condor investigation evaluated properties adjacent to the historic Old Valley Pipeline (OVP) along <br /> Byron Road, near Mountain House Creek, The investigation included portions of Mountain House Sites <br /> # 1 and# 2, where petroleum hydrocarbons Ieaking from the OVP have impacted soil and groundwater in <br /> the vicinity of Mountain House Creek. <br /> The Addendum proposes an additional 22 soil borings at Mountain House Site # 1 for a total of 32 and 2 <br /> additional borings at Mountain House Site # 2 for a total of 12, to obtain soil and groundwater samples. <br /> Following completion of the drilling, Trimark is proposing to proceed with construction activities for <br /> replacing the Byron Road and UPRR bridge/crossing. Review of the data indicates that petroleum <br /> impacted soil and groundwater will most likely be encountered during excavation that would require a <br /> dewatering system to temporarily Iower the shallow groundwater table. <br /> ChevronTexaco continues to be the responsible party for soil and groundwater issues relating to impacts <br /> from the OVP that may be encountered during these projects, <br /> California Environinen.tal Protection Agency <br /> nfl� Recveled Paper <br />
