The Report was prepared
on behalf of Chevron by Science Applications International Corporation -- Benham Companies,
' LLC (SAIL). Detailed comments provided in the enclosed memorandum are summarized
below.
' Based on our review, Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board staff finds that the
lateral extent of crude oil affected soil and groundwater has been defined by analytical results
for crude oil/petroleum hydrocarbons that are-ND or which did not exceed applicable
' environmental screening levels. Affected soil and groundwater has been adequately defined
and additional characterization is not needed.
' According to the analysis for water quality parameters for samples from borings and a nearby
private well, the analytical results exceed several components listed by California Department
of Health Services Recommended Maximum Contaminant Level for drinking water. In
' addition, crude oil affected soil and groundwater resides primarily within and beneath the
utility/highway corridor easements and beneath a portion of an adjacent agricultural field. It is
unlikely that new groundwater wells would be installed within the project area due to limited
access to the utility corridor and considering the available water supply provided by the nearby
Mountain House Community Services District.
A human health risk screening assessment and an ecological receptor survey evaluation may
be prepared and should be based on the current and anticipated future use(s) of the Site.
California Environmental Protection Agency
' (Recycled Paper
