�� KLEINFELDER <br /> SCOPE OF WORK <br /> Task 1 Permittiniz and Pre-Field Activities <br /> It has been Kleinfelder's experience that this proposal contains sufficient detail and information to <br /> be submitted to PHS/EHD to review and approve a probe/boring permit. Kleinfelder can prepare <br /> a probe/boring permit application, a proposed probe/boring location map, and a health and safety <br /> plan for submittal along with this proposal to PHS/EHD. Additionally, the permit must be <br /> approved prior to advancing soil probes. After obtaining approval from the PHS/EHD, <br /> Kleinfelder will commence with the assessment. <br /> Please note that PHS/EHD will bill SJRTD directly for oversight on this project. Kleinfelder <br /> understands USA has been notified for this project, but will require an updated notification or <br /> separate ticket number for the entire site prior to field work. <br /> Task 2 Advancement of Push Probes <br /> Approximately eight (8) push probes will be advanced near the former tank excavation to assess <br /> the lateral and vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbon impacted soil and to evaluate if first <br /> encountered groundwater has been impacted at the subject site. The pushprobes will be <br /> advanced to depths ranging from 25 to 50 feet below ground surface (bgs). <br /> Approximately six perimeter probes will be advanced and stepped-out approximately 20 to 50 <br /> feet from the former tank location. A single dual-tube probe will be advanced near the central <br /> portion of the former tank. The dual-tube probe will be advanced into first encountered <br /> groundwater, estimated to be 35 feet bgs. A grab groundwater sample will be collected at this <br /> location. A second single tube probe will be advanced approximately 50 feet bgs in the central <br /> portion of the tank area to assess the vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil. <br /> Based on initial field observations, the stepped-out placement and probe depths of the <br /> pushprobes may need to be adjusted to better evaluate the extent of potential contaminants. The <br /> actual sampling locations will also be dependent on access, surface conditions, and potential <br /> interference with subsurface utilities. No offsite probes are proposed at this time. <br /> Pushprobes will be advanced using a pneumatically driven steel probe. Soil samples will be <br /> obtained by inserting a sample barrel, lined with acetate liners, into the probe. The sample barrel <br /> will be lowered to the desired sampling depth and driven into the soil. The sample tubes will be <br /> removed and sealed with Teflon and tightly fitting plastic end caps. Soil samples will be <br /> collected continuously during the advancement of the pushprobes at depths ranging from surface <br /> to the proposed maximum depths ranging from 25 to 50 feet bgs. During the advancement of <br /> the borings, soil samples will be collected continuously for lithologic classification and <br /> subjective observations (soil discoloration and odor). Lithologic classification will be based on <br /> the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS). <br /> At this time, we propose to submit three soil samples for quantitative chemical analyses from <br /> each of the six perimeter borings and a centrally located probe boring.
