California St. Stockton, Ca.
Site Monitoring Event
Dear Mr. Infurna:
Please find below the report covering first quarter site monitoring activities on the above stated
property.
FIRST QUARTER MONITORING WELL SAMPLING REPORT
Site History
Five fuel USTs and one used motor oil tank were removed by Jim Thorpe Oil in November 1992
under a permit from the PHS/EHD. Soil samples taken from under the USTs and the dispensing
equipment indicated the presence of hydrocarbons. Spoil from the excavation was found to contain
hydrocarbon contamination.
The Clearwater Group submitted a work plan to install three soil borings with monitoring wells
constructed in the same boring. The work described in the Clearwater Work Plan was completed
in March of 1995.
The excavation for the removal of the USTs was backfilled by Jim Thorpe Oil in April 1996. The
excavation spoil was used for backfill material.
Foothill Engineering was requested by the owner to sample the three monitoring wells that were
installed by Clearwater at various times and the analysis of those samples is attached. Monitoring
wells'MW-1 and MW-2 continue to contain high levels of gasoline contamination.MW-3 has much
lower levels of gasoline contamination (see a recap sheet attached).
On August 23, 1999, the PHS/EHD approved a work plan submitted by Foothill Engineering to
install replacement wells for MW#1,MW#2, and MW#3. These replacement wells were installed
to correct the over screen conditions of the existing monitoring wells. Also, included in this work
plan was the installation ofthree CPTs.To date CPT#1,CPT#2 and CPT#3 have been installed.Soil
. and groundwater samples extracted during the installation ofCPTs indicate gasoline contamination
to a depth of eighty-five feet (see a recap attached).
1
