Site Background Information: Stallworth Auto Sales
Page 4 of 11
collected from 71-74 feet bsg, 126-129 feet bsg and 145-148 feet bsg at
concentrations of 1.3 pg/l, 1.8 pg/I and 11 pg/l, respectively.
On 24 June 2002, two ground water monitoring wells (MW-5 and MW-6) were installed at
the site. MW-5 and MW-6 are screened from 20 feet to 40 feet bsg.
• No soil samples were collected from boring MW-6. A total of 3 soil samples
collected from well boring MW-5 were analyzed for TPH-g, TPH-d, BTEX, the suite
of five fuel additives, 1 ,2-DCA and EDB. No analytes were detected at or above
laboratory reporting limits.
• After the installation and development of the two ground water monitoring wells on-
site, all on-site wells were sampled. The ground water samples were analyzed for
TPH-g, TPH-d, BTEX, the five fuel additives, 1,2-DCA and EDB.
• TPH-g was detected in the water samples collected from MW-1A and MW-6 at
concentrations of 140,000 pg/I and 1 ,600 pg/I, respectively; TPH-d was detected in
water sample MW-1A at a concentration of 37,000 pg/l.
• BTEX compounds were detected in the water samples collected from MW-1A and
MW-6 at concentrations as high as 1,400 pg/I benzene, 51,000 pg/I toluene, 5,500
pg/I ethylbenzene and 26,000 pg/I total xylenes, in sample MW-1A.
• EDB was detected in the water sample collected from MW-1A at a concentration of
210 pg/l. TBA was detected in water sample MW-6 at a concentration of 25 pg/l. In
addition, the volatile organic compounds isopropyl benzene, n-propylbenzene, n-
butylbenzene and napthalene were detected in water sample MW-6 at
concentrations of 35 pg/I, 66 pg/l, 10 pg/I and 7.0 pg/I, respectively.
• No other analytes were detected at or above laboratory reporting limits in the ground
water samples.
On 15, 16 and 17 June 2004, soil borings CPT-2, CPT-3 and CPT-4 were advanced on-site
utilizing CPT technology to model the geological and hydrogeologic framework and to
assess potential dissolved petroleum-migration pathways beneath the site. Lithologic data
was collected from the initial borings. Twin borings were then advanced adjacent to the
initial boring to collect grab ground water samples from selected depths.
• Ground water samples were collected from CPT-2 at 105 to 109 feet bsg, 127 to
131 feet bsg, and 172 to 176 feet bsg; ground water samples were collected from
CPT-3 at 179 to 183 feet bsg, and 195 to 199 feet bsg; and from CPT-4 at 76 to 80
feet bsg, 143 to 147 feet bsg, and 189 feet and 193 feet bsg.
• TPH-g was detected in all the ground water samples collected from CPT-3 and
CPT-4, at concentrations ranging from 5,900 micrograms per liter (pg/1) in HU4 to
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
