The purpose of <br /> the work was to gain subsurface lithological data, and to investigate the vertical extent of the <br /> petroleum hydrocarbon contaminant plume at the site. A twin boring was advanced next to the <br /> CPT boring to collect depth discrete groundwater samples. Findings of the investigation indicate . <br /> that the vertical extent of the plume has not been defined , nor the lateral ext6nt at depth . <br /> The report recommends the installation of additional borings to define the vertical extent of the <br /> plume, as well as the lateral extent at depth , The installation of additional wells to monitor the <br /> lateral extent of the shallow plume has already been approved by SJC/EHD, as has the <br /> continuation of quarterly groundwater monitoring . The report also recommends doing reviews of <br /> historical records to assess other potential sources of the documented contamination , <br /> SJC/EHD agrees with these recommendations, You are directed to complete the installation of the <br /> shallow groundwater monitoring wells. Per the November 6 , 2000 work plan approval letter, submit <br /> a well permit application and required $89 ,00 permit fee for each parcel of land on which a shallow <br /> well will be installed , as well as city encroachment permits and/or site access agreements for all <br /> offsite work.
