sae --- . ... . .... . . ., . .
04 December 1998
• AGE-NC Project No. 98-0481
Attached is the laboratory analytical report. In addition, no petroleum hydrocarbon discoloration,
odor or organic vapor meter(OVM) readings above background level were observed for soil probe
borings.
Recommendations
Due to subsurface conditions encountered at the site, the proposed scope of work presented in the
PSA Work Plan was unable to be completed. Therefore, it is recommended that hollow-stem auger 30
drilling techniques be implemented to complete the proposed PSA field activities. A limited-access
drill rig will be required to drill underneath the pump island canopy. The additional PSA activities
will be consistent with the scope of work and procedures pres ttedin the approved PSA Work P
dated 25 August 1998. It is recommended that initially two soil boring be advanced; one ori
mng for
the former fuel dispenser island location and one boring for the former waste oil UST location. If
petroleum hydrocarbon impacts are observed, additional soil borings may be advanced to evaluate
the lateral extent of impacts. Soil cuttings generated during the drilling of the borings will be place
on and covered with visqueen. Soil cuttings will be stockpiled on an adjacent parcel presently
containing stockpiled soil generated during the site UST removal activities.
Upon PHS-EHD concurrence, AGE will initiate the additional PSA activities.
