INTRODUCTION
This is a work.plan for environmental`soil sampling of the expected soil export materials located at the
proposed Women's and Children's Pavilion area of the St. Joseph's Medical Center located at 1506
North California Street, Stockton, California(Site). The Site comprises Assessor Parcel Numbers(APNs)
127-190-29, 127-190-31, and 127-150-54 (Figure 2, Appendix A)..Condor Earth Technologies, Inc.
(Condor)prepared this work plan at the request of Catholic Health Care West(Client).
The work is designed to investigate the potential presence of contaminants in soil to be excavated and
removed from the Site. The proposed work will include the advancement of 20 direct push borings to
collect soil samples.
2. SITE BACKGROUND
t The Site is located at the southeast corner of California and Maple Streets, in Stockton, California
(Figure 1, Appendix A)..The Site comprises approximately 1:3 acres of generally flat land within the city
limits of Stockton. The Site is currently an asphalt-surfaced parking lot for St. Joseph's Hospital. The
Site was formerly occupied by a mix of residential and commercial buildings.
3. GEOPROBE BORING FIELD PROCEDURES
This section includes a description of the Site preparation, geoprobe-boring procedures, proposed Site
health and safety procedures, and laboratory analyses.
3.1 SITE PREPARATION
Condor will complete soil boring permit applications and obtain the required permits from the San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department'(SJCEHD) prior to the fieldwork..Condor will
{' coordinate all field activities with the SJCEHD. The proposed boring locations will be marked with white
j' paint and Underground Service Alert(USA)will be notified at least 48 hours in advance of the fieldwork
to locate and identify underground utilities in and near the work area. Because companies contacted by
USA may not identify utilities beyond private property lines and'into the Site, Condor will arrange for a
private utilities locator to identify any underground utilities on Site. However, it is the responsibility of
the property owner to identify any Site utilities.
3.2 HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
Prior to initiating fieldwork at the Site, a tailgate safety meeting will be held and field personnel will
familiarize themselves with the Site-specific health and safety plan, which will be discussed and
presented for their signatures. The health and safety plan pertains to field activities and includes
information such as potential hazards encountered at the Site, personal protective equipment, and
directions and telephone numbers to the nearest hospital. A copy of the Site-specific health and safety.
i1 CONDOR
