Main Street ENVIRONMENTAL.HEALTH <br /> Stockton, CA 95202 PERMIT15ERVICES <br /> UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK CLEANUP FUND RECOMMENDED CASE CLOSURES, <br /> SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY LOP SITES <br /> In response to the cash shortage facing the UST Cleanup Fund (Fund), the State Water Board <br /> has directed Fund staff to accelerate,implementation of he 5-Year Review process and to <br /> elevate cases identified as being ready for closure as ap 3ropriate. The purpose of this letter is <br /> to transmit the attached table that contains a fist of cases being overseen by your office that <br /> have been reviewed and determined by Fund staff to be good candidates for immediate <br /> closure. However, there is continued disagreement betm een your staff and Fund staff over <br /> whether these cases should be closed. We are therefor requesting that you review these <br /> cases with your staff and let us know if you concur with ur closure recommendation. We <br /> would appreciate a response within 30 days. If you agre3 that a case should be closed, we <br /> would expect that to mean that a "no further action" letter would be issued within 90 days. If <br /> you disagree with closure, please provide a brief statement for the basis of your disagreement, <br /> and we will consider whether or not to recommend closure to the State Board. <br /> For each of these cases on the attached list, the Fund 5 ear Review staff has reviewed the <br /> available information in making our closure determination. The Fund's recommendations are <br /> based on review of information contained in the Fund's claim files, data currently in the <br /> GeoTracker database and any other sources of information that were readily available to Fund <br /> staff at the time the review was conducted. During our review we solicited input from your staff <br /> to obtain the current status of corrective action at this site as well as information on any <br /> outstanding issues. If additional information was provided by the caseworker, it was considered <br /> by Fund staff and incorporated into our recommendations, if applicable. <br /> In general, your staff has responded fairly consistently as to whether they agree With case � <br /> closure or not as well as their reasons for keeping the case open. As previously stated, we are <br /> now requesting your review and either concurrence or disagreement with our determinations for <br /> case closure.
