The EHD <br /> comments for a selection of those sites are provided herein, sites not noted in this letter <br /> will be addressed in the near future. Due to the high volume of preliminary five-year <br /> review letters and the ongoing workload and commitments of the EHD, the following <br /> comments pertain only to the recommendations; of er information in the five-year letters <br /> that is incorrect or incomplete is noted only insofar as that information directly affects the <br /> recommendations. <br /> 1901 El Dorado Street, S. <br /> • The State Water Resources Control Boa d Cleanup Fund Five Year Review <br /> Committee (CUF) has recommended that the EHD direct the Responsible Party <br /> (RP) to implement soil vapor extraction (SVE) and assess the efficacy of insitu air <br /> sparging (IAS) to achieve Water Quality Objectives (WQO) more rapidly. <br /> • The EHD evaluated the potential for proposed IAS in 2005 and had determined <br /> there may be a problem with a clay interval occurring at and below the water <br /> table minimizing the potential for recovery of sparged air and stripped vapor and <br /> maximizing the potential to cause lateral migration of impacted groundwater in <br /> the underlying coarse-grained Unit. The consultant has since recommended dual <br /> phase extraction (DPE), for which the EHD i 5 directing a pilot test work plan to be <br /> prepared. <br /> 425 Larch Road, W. <br /> • CUF recommended the EHD direct the RP to assess remedial groundwater <br /> technologies and implement"groundwater remediation. The EHD agrees with this <br /> recommendation but adds that delineation of the downgradient extent of the <br /> impacted groundwater must still be completed.
