Soil samples from the tank excavation were obtained using
standard methods and local ions. The sample from under the Stoddard Solvent Tank (Tank #1)
was taken at a depth of*/- eight feet. The sample from the leaded gasoline tank (Tank#2) was
taken at a depth of-i- nine feet_ Both these samples and sannples from the excavation spoil
showed evidence of hydrocarbon contamination (See map enclosed). All of the above samples
were analyzed by GeoAnalytical Laboratories,Inc. The location of Tank #1 is between two
slruetwes and is 25' from the closest access point by drilling equipment. Tank #2 could be
accessed by vertical drilling equipment.
Phase t of the Site Investigation required drilling a slant soil boring under Tank 01 and a
vertical soil bore at the location of Tank #2.
Phase 2 of the Site investigation was conducted to define the vertical and horizontal extent of
the contamination plume. 1t was eomplctcd on 5128198 with the installation of MW#2S,
MW92D, MW#3S, MW43D, and MW#4S, MW#4D.
