Of the 18 sites:
• Six sites are in the final closure process. An ED decision to close the sites was made
with no additional data, analysis or technical ju3tificabons required (Claim Nos. 13651,
13879, 14118, 15890, 17042 and 16496). Dpending on the consultants timing for
destroying monitoring wells .and submitting certification of proper disposal of
investigation-derived wasted (IDW), the EHD anticipates issuing case closure letters
within 90 days;
• Nine sites have No Further Action Reports (N AR) that are undergoing EHD review,
human health risk assessments, or data evaluation. No additional site data acquisition
ated except for soil gas data in a few cases (Claim Nos. 4423, 8431, 889, 1978,
1775, 13850, 17179, 1026 and 16139);
Two require some additional work, such as data evaluation, monitoring, delineation,
remediation, or confirmation data(Claim Nos. 8753 and 14558);and
• One site (Claim No. 14353) has been referred to the Central Valley Regional Water
Quality Control Board(CVRWQCB).
Your letter indicates that if the EHD agrees that a site should be closed, a closure letter will be
issued within 90 days. The EHD agrees that the first ix sites noted above will fit this criteria.
While not disagreeing with you on the next nine sites, experience indicates that more than 90
days will be required to complete the closure process. EHD comments on each of the 18 sites,
in the order given, are shown below:
Comments on CUP Site Closure Recommendations 011 I.doc
