CA 95240 PH (209) 368-9381 FAX (209) 367-1163 Mr Michael Infurna San Joaquin County Public Health Services January 2, 20 � �1 304 E Weber Third Floor U Stockton, CA 95202 SAN o7 2002 Subject Mrs Helen Higgins / Vague Cleaners ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH 2315 N California Street pgMIT/SERVICES Stockton, CA Site code 31032 Global ID T0607700741 Dear Mr Infurna Please find below the report of the findings REPORT OF FINDINGS FOR THE INSTALLATION OF MONITORING WELLS MW-5A AND MW-5B • SITE HISTORY The site has along history of use as a cleaning establishment and presently has the same use On June 6, 1996,Thorpe Oil removed two empty underground storage tanks from the property under a permit from the PHS/EHD Soil samples from the tank excavation were obtained using standard methods and locations The sample from under Tank 41 was taken at a depth of+/- eight feet The sample from Tank #2 was taken at a depth of+/- nine feet Both these samples and samples from the excavation spoil showed evidence of hydrocarbon contamination(See map enclosed) All of the above samees were analyzed by GeoAnalytical Laboratories,Inc The location ofTank#1 is between two structures and is 25' from the closest access point by drilling equipment Tank#2 can be accessed by vertical drilling equipment Phase 1 ofthe Site Investigation required drilling a slant soil boring under Tank#1 and a vertical soil bore at the location of Tank #2 ( See the attached soil and water analysis for BH#1 and MW#1) Phase 2 of the Site Investigation was conducted to define the vertical and horizontal extent of the contamination plume It was completed on 5/28/98 with the installation of MW#2S, MW42D, MW#3 S,MW#3D,and MW#4S,MW#4D A double monitoring well was installed in each location The shallow wells(noted by the"S"letter)had a total depth of+/-55'and the deep monitoring wells had a total depth of+/-75' The original set of water samples was made on 6/11/98(see water sample analysis, attached) The installation ofmonitoring wells MW-5A&B was first attempted onl 0/10/2001 in the sidewalk on the eastside ofCalifornia Strut On this first attempt a cable owned by Williams Communications was struck by the drill auger at a depth of 8 5 feet The cable was cut and the soil bore abandoned after it was determined that the fiber cable was not in operation The cable was 38"from it's marked location as determined by USA The cable had been installed by thejacking method and was not in use at the I
