each well were over 1 5 GPM Samples with a bailer were taken after a minium of 10 volumes of
@ water were pumped
SUMMARY OF FINDINGS
The deepest monitoring wells ( MW#I, MW#2D, MW#3D, MW#4D) all indicated low levels of
Xylene contamination in water samples (0 4 to 0 b ug/L) MW#3S indicated some low level BTEX
contamination in two soil samples (MW#3@45, MW#3@50) and in the water sample MW#2 soil
samples were clean, but the MW#2S water sample had a level of Xylene slightly above the
detection level All water samples from MW#2S,MW#2D,MW#3S,MW#3D,produced low levels
of 1,2-Dichloroethane contamination
The water sample and the two soil samples on MW43S had a solvent odor The water table in
MW#1 has raised eight feet from the last water surface measurement in February 1997 The water
table flow gradient has a bearing of S75deg E at a slope of 0 004 MW#3 lies in a direct line with
excavation for solvent Tank#1 and has the highest concentration of contamination (see soil bore
layout by X-Y axis) Oxygenates were not present in any of the soil or water samples analyzed
CONCLUSION
Xylene continues to be found in the same low concentration in the monitoring wells that are deeper
than fifty feet The source of this contaminate may not be Tank#1 The source of Dichoroethane
found in MW#2D, MW#2S, MW#3S,MW#3D most likely is from the solvent Tank#1 The extent
of the contamination plume from Tank#1 in now known to lie under and east of the tank location
Solvent has traveled down to the shallow aquifer under the property and moved by water transport
• to the east of the Vogue Cleaners property line
RECOMMENDATIONS
The author recommends that all monitoring wells be sampled for the next two quarters to determine
if contamination levels change There is no evidence from the information gathered to date that
would warrant further subsurface investigation
Please contact this office if any question arise from this report
Respectfully submitted,
Foothill inee g -
or -IF
E
Ervin Rifenb g ' r
' % ,0: Exp K
cc Norman Higgins s < h
•
3
